New Orleans Opera Announces Cast Change for ‘Samson and Delilah’

By Francisco Salazar

The New Orleans Opera has announced a cast change for its Nov. 10 performance of “Samson and Delilah.”

The company said, “We regret that Limmie Pulliam will be unable to perform today. However, we are THRILLED to announce that international tenor (and veteran Samson) Carl Tanner will be jumping in for what will be his New Orleans Opera debut!”

Tanner has performed with the Teatro alla Scala, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra National de Paris, the Washington National Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera. Of his 2015 turn as Samson at Grange Park Opera, Bachtrack said, “The thrill of the evening came from Carl Tanner, who sang the role of Samson as if he was singing Wagner: this is a man with a big voice, displaying genuine heldentenor virtues of strength, nobility, and beauty of line even in the most daredevil highs.”

Tanner will join a cast that includes Raehann Bryce-Davis, Alfred Walker, Ivan Griffin, and Raymond Aceto. Daniela Candillari conducts the concert performance.
