New Orleans Opera Announces 2025-26 Season

The New Orleans Opera has announced its 2025-26 Season.

The season has the theme of “Intersection of Piety and Desire.”

The season opens with “Der Rosenkavalier,” Strauss’ work about a sophisticated older woman, a romantic chevalier, and a blooming young girl converge in an impossible love triangle around a single silver rose.

Performance Dates: TBA

The second work of the season will be Poulenc’s “Dialogues des carmélites” in which Fear reigns and Faith is tested as the guillotine looms.

Handel’s “Messiah” will be performed for Christmas and in partnership with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Performance Dates: TBA

Fire Shut Up in My Bones” will be performed in its Chamber Suite. This suite from Terence Blanchard’s critically acclaimed opera features principal artists from the opera and the composer performing his own score.

Verdi’s “Requiem” will be performed in partnership with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Carlisle Floyd’s “Pilgrimage” will be performed in partnership with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
