New Opera Days Ostrava Announces 2024 Season

The New Opera Days Ostrava has announced its 2024 season featuring seven original productions, five world premieres, and two Czech premieres.

Pascal Dusapin’s “Passion” will be conducted by Walter Kobera and directed by Ursula Horner. It will star Melis Demiray, and Wolfgang Resch.

Performance Date: June 26, 2024

František Chaloupka’s fourth opera “The Sell-Out” will feature baritone Felix Heuser, soprano Markéta Schaffartzik and countertenor Valentino Blasina. Canticum Ostrava will be directed by choirmaster Yurii Galatenko and will perform alongside the international Ostravská banda, augmented by players from ONO – Ostrava New Orchestra, conducted by Bruno Ferrandis. The director and stage designer of the production is Rocc.

Amir Shpilman’s “IMPACT” will showcase Katsiaryna Zhynhiarouskaya.

Performance Date: June 28, 2024

“Russolos Bitter End” will be conducted by Petr Odo Macháček. The work is composed by Miroslav Paulíček.

Performance Date: June 28, 2024

American composer Ian Davis will present “Ephemeral Pulse,” a short operatic work for chamber orchestra, vocalists, and electronics. The text is taken from Emily Dickinson’s poem “Forever.” The work will be conducted by Petr Kotík and directed by Jiří Nekvasil and David Bazika.

Performance Date: June 29, 2024

Prague composer Haštal Hapka will present “Once Everybody’s Here” and will be directed by Vilma Bořkovec.

Christopher Robson, Peyee Chen, Peter Brathwaite, Truike van der Poel, and John Pumphrey star in Ann Cleare’s “The Little Lives” with Bruno Ferrandis and David Bazika directing.

Performance Date: June 30, 2024
