New National Theatre, Tokyo to Stream ‘A Dream of Armageddon’
By David SalazarNew National Theatre, Tokyo is set to stream “A Dream of Armageddon” starting on Jan. 28, 2022.
The new opera by Dai Fujikura premiered in November 2020 and stars Peter Tantsits, Seth Carico, Jessica Aszodi, Etsuko Kanoh, Tetsuya Mochizuki, and Yusuke Nagamine. Kazushi Ono conducts a production directed by Lydia Steier.
“A Dream of Armageddon” is based on a novel by H.G. Wells and focuses on the threat of totalitarianism. Fujikura developed the score prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but as Sterer puts it, “’A Dream of Armageddon’ is truly a piece for this exact moment in history.”
Audiences can stream the opera via the company’s official website between Jan. 28 through Feb. 28, 2022.
