New Jersey Verismo Opera To Perform ‘Norma’

The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera is set to open its season with Bellini’s “Norma.”

The new production is set to star soprano Jessica Sandidge in her company debut. The Metropolitan opera singer, who made her Met debut in the 2016-17 in the role of Jano(c) in Janácek’s “Jenufa” and is set to return for her third season as Dawn in the American premiere of “Marnie” this fall.

She will be joined by tenor Benjamin Sloman in the role of Pollione, mezzo-soprano Viktoriya Koreneva as Adalgisa, and bass DeAndre Simmons in the role of Oroveso. Soprano EphiGenia Kastanas and tenor Theron Cromer round out the cast.

The work will be presented in a production by  General Manager/Stage Director Evelyn La Quaif and will be conducted by Michael Wittenburg leading the Verismo Opera Chorus.

“Norma” will be performed on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 3:00 p.m at the Bergen Performing Arts Center.
