By Francisco Salazar

Opera Futura, a new initiative for Italian Opera, has been founded.

The new non-profit platform will study opera in numerous ways across different businesses and will look at ways to innovate the artform and its own models.

Through the initiative top industry musicians and artists will hold panels and discussions to obtain new ideas, models, and strategies for the growth of opera into the future.

On June 5, the initiative will launch with a Facebook Live event featuring top conductors Fabio Luisi, Daniele Rustioni, Riccardo Frizza, and Sesto Quatrini  in dialogue with Jeffrey Schnapp, faculty director at Harvard University. Paolo Petrocelli will moderate the panel.

The founders of the organizations include Paolo Petrocelli, Sesto Quatrini, and Maddalena Massafra. Co-founders include Andrea Bernard, Fabio Massimo Capogrosso, Raffaella Lupinacci, Rosa Feola, Vittorio Montalti, Raffaele Pe, Marco Filippo Romano, Giorgio Sangati, Enea Scala, Sofia Vannini, and Sergio Vitale.
