By Logan Martell

On April 28, 2021, New England Conservatory’s Opera Studies Department will present Mozart’s “Il re pastore.”

Recorded at the historic Jordan Hall, with orchestral accompaniment by the NEC Philharmonia, the semi-staged production will be free to watch at the company’s official website. Both the performers and orchestra were recorded separately in order to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols.

Conductor Robert Tweten and stage director Steven Goldstein lead two casts, comprised of Jaeeun Shin and Yeon-Jae Cho as Aminta; Logan Trotter, and Loren Graziano as Elisa; Kate Wood and Theodora Nestorova as Tamiri; and Anthony Leon as Agenore.

“Il re pastore” can be streamed on April 28 at 4:00 and 8:00 pm, and on April 29 at the same times. The performance will be sung in Italian and runs for approximately 90 minutes.

For the last 150 years, New England Conservatory has taught musicians from around the world, emerging as a leader among music schools and in the cultural life of Boston. They currently have 800 students who represent over 40 countries worldwide, with 2,000 children and adults in their Preparatory and Continuing Education divisions.
