New England Conservatory’s Entrepreneurial Musicianship team has announced the winners of this year’s Grow Your Art grants, with $13,500 in prizes going to support Black, Latino, and Native American music students.

The winners are NEC alumni Emily Eng, Darynn Dean, Rafael Natan, and Linda Numagami. Grants are available to NEC students or alumni within 10 years of graduation, and go towards developing the business side of their musical careers. In addition to the microgrant program for students, the winners will produce a series of concerts and film screenings around women in Jazz, as well as an accessible School of Arts and Social Justice, and a clarinet festival.

This year’s panel was led by Grow Your Art residency guest composer Maria Schneider, NEC President Andrea Kalyn, and NEC Dean of Community Engagement and Professional Studies Tanya Maggi.

The pitch competition was streamed live, and is available for viewing on YouTube.

The New England Conservatory recently announced that it had received a grant for the creation of a virtual choir for seniors.
