New Camerata Opera Announces Cast For ‘El Barbero de Sevilla,’ Other Major News

The New Camerata Opera has unveiled some big news about upcoming performances during the 2019-20 season.

First off, the company revealed that its Spring production of “Barnum’s Bird” will take place at Le Poisson Rouge.”

However, in more immediate news, the company unveiled the full cast of its upcoming production of “El Barbero de Sevilla.”

The zarzuela by Giménez and Nieto will be performed at Teatro LATEA on Oct. 16, 18, 19, and 20. Rod Gomez will direct and Pablo Zinger will conduct the production. Anna Tonna will star as Roldán with María Brea as Elena. Caroline Tye will play Casimira, José Luis Maldonado will be Martín, Jay Lucas Chacon will be Benito, Brian J. Alvarado will take on the role of Pérez, and Victor Khodadad will be López.

The work will feature spoken dialogue in English with the musical passages in Spanish. Additionally, the Al Margen Flamenco Company will perform after the show on Oct. 19, 2019.
