New Camerata Opera & A Modern Reveal Team Up For ‘Leading Ladies Liberated’

By David Salazar

The New Camerata Opera has revealed that it will be working with “A Modern Reveal: Songs and Stories of Women Composers” to present “Leading Ladies Liberated.”

The performance, slated for May 3, 2019, at 7 p.m., will take place at the Flea Theater in New York. The concert is set to feature music by Isabella Colbran, Maria Malibran, and Pauline Viardot. Many of the pieces center on arias or songs composed or made famous by these iconic divas; excerpts from Viardot’s chamber opera “Cendrillon” will also be presented.

The concert will feature such artists as Eugenia Forteza, Samina Aslam Hendy, Nicole Leone, and Lily Arbisser.

This is just the latest of New Camerata Opera’s upcoming efforts. The company will be presenting a concert “Heroines of Opera” in anticipation of its production of “The Rape of Lucretia,” which will be directed by Bea Goodwin.
