New Amsterdam Opera Announces Two New Cast Members for ‘I Vespri Siciliani’
By Francisco SalazarNew York-based New Amsterdam Opera has announced two new cast members to its upcoming performance of Verdi’s “I Vespri Siciliani.”
Diego Valdez will perform the role of Manfredo and Andrew Richardson will sing the role of Bethune. Richardson will also cover the role of Procida.
Both artists will join a cast that includes Indira Mahajan as Elena, Jeremy Brauner as Arrigo, Bryan Glenn Davis as Procida, and Daniel Scofield as Monforte.
Artistic Director Keith Chambers conducts the New Amsterdam Opera Orchestra & Chorus and the opera will be presented in concert in its Italian translation.
The upcoming performance was set to take place in 2020 but was rescheduled due to the pandemic. “I Vespri Siciliani” will be performed on Oct. 22, 2021 at The Center at West Park in New York City.
