The New Amsterdam Opera has announced that it will host a surprise salon event to preview its upcoming concert performance of Massenet’s “Hériodade.”

The event is set for March 30, 2019 at a surprise Manhattan location and will be guest hosted by Ken Benson. The showcase will feature performances from the opera’s cover artists, which include Rachelle Pike, Sara Pearson, Raymon Geis, Jonathan Green, Kofi Hayford, Kevin Johnson, and Eugenia Forteza. New Amsterdam Opera artistic director Keith Chambers will accompany the singers.

The company will present “Hériodade” on May 10, 2019 at West 86th street. Janara Kellerman will appear in the title role while Jason Duika will portray Hérode. Marcy Stonikas will take on Salomé while Jean will be interpreted by Errin Duane Brooks. Isiah Musik-Ayala will appear as Phanuel and Charles Eaton will portray Vitellius. Finally, Brooklyn Snow will perform as the Babylonienne.

The New Amsterdam Opera has been presenting a number of rare operas on the concert stage over the past few years. In 2017, the organization showcased Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino” and in 2018 it took on Donizetti’s “La Favorita.”
