By Olivia Manna

The New Amsterdam Opera has announced the cast to its upcoming performance of Massenet’s Hérodiade.

After an intense three day audition process, the cast will include Janara Kellerman in the title role of Hérodiade, Marcy Stonikas as Salomé, Errin Brooks as Jean, Jason Chandler Duika as Hérode, Isaiah Musik-Ayala as Phanuel, Charles Eaton as Vitellius, and Brooklyn Snow as Young Babylonian Girl.

The performance will be led and conducted by the company’s Artistic Director, Keith Chambers, alongside the New Amsterdam Opera Orchestra and talented Chorus.

The opera is based on the novella Hérodias written in 1877 by Gustave Flaubert and is a retelling of the story of John the Baptist, Salome, Herod Antipas and Herodias.

The opera follows the success of the company’s “La Favorita” and “La Forza del Destino.”

“Hérodiade” will be performed on May 10, 2019.
