National Symphony Orchestra Releases Statement Following Trump Takeover

By Francisco Salazar

The National Symphony Orchestra Musicians have released a statement following the Trump takeover of the Kennedy Center.

The Musicians said, “We, the musicians of the National Symphony Orchestra are proud to perform for our patron, our community in our nation’s capital, and the country at large. We continue to look forward to seeing you all at our concerts!”

The statement comes after President Donal J. Trump was elected board chairman and fired Deborah Rutter as Executive Director. That caused prominent figures like Ben Folds, Shonda L. Rhimes, and Renée Fleming to resign.

Trump later installed Ric Grenell as interim Executive Director and added loyalists such as Susie Wiles, Allison Lutnick, Lynda Lomangino, Mindy Levine, Usha Vance, Pamela Gross, John Falconetti, Cheri Summerall, Sergio Gor, Emilia May Fanjul, Patricia Duggan, and Dana Blumberg to the board.
