National Sawdust and Chelsea Factory are set to present Bare Opera’s production of “Fire Songs” on June 18, 2022.

The production, which will be directed by Malena Dayen, will features a song cycle by composer Thomas Cabaniss under the musical direction of David Rosenmeyer.

The work will feature vocal performances by such artists as Anicet Castel, Inna Dukach, Eugenia Forteza, Marcelo Guzzo, David Charles Tay, Chanan Ben Simon, and Shanelle Woods. Dura Jun will be at the piano. Troy Ogilvie will provide choreography while Sangmin Chae will be the projection designer. Lighting will be by Devin Cameron.

“Firesongs is a collection of art songs by Thomas Cabaniss. We’re creating a staged version, playing in the space between chamber music, opera, dance and video art. I’m interested in expanding how a song cycle can be performed on stage, finding a narrative not only in the music but in the way the performers move and interact on stage,” Dayen told OperaWire.

There will be two performances on the 18th, one starting at 5:30 p.m. and another at 8 p.m. The show’s duration will be 70 minutes.
