National Kaoshiung Centre for the Arts (Weiwuying) Unveils Remaining 2023 Performances
By David SalazarThe National Kaoshiung Centre for the Arts (Weiwuying) in Taiwan has unveiled the remainder of its 2023 program. Here is a look at the classical vocal performances in store for audiences.
“Opera Aria – Dialogue With God” will feature La Voix d’Amis” as they present music by Bizet, Puccini, Saint-Saëns, Dvorák, and Lucio. Artists include Vauvauwane Titibu, Chen Hui-chen, Wang Man-chia, Chaing Jo, Chang Jui-fen, Tsao Chung-mei, Huang Jin-mei, Chiu Chan, Shih Lu-cheng, Li Zi-wei, Lin Yi-xuan, Lee Ta-jen, Lu Yih-chau, and Hsu Po-chih.
Performance Date: June 30, 2023
Conductor Lin Tien-chi leads the Taipei Civic Symphony Orchestra in a Rachmaninoff symphony and excerpts from Puccini’s “La Bohème.”
Performance Date: July 16, 2023
Mezzo-soprano I-Chiao Shih performs a recital featuring music by Schumann, Dvorák, Liszt, Gilbert, and Granados, among others. She is joined by pianist Clemens Müller.”
Performance Date: August 6, 2023
The company then presents “Der Freischütz.” The opera will be directed by Johannes Reitmeier and conducted by Wen-pin Chien. It will star Rios Li, Wen-i Tseng, Li Keng, Jeannie Chaing, Yun-hsuan Tsai, Ying-min Lin, Martin Ng, Fang-hao Chao, Roman Payer, Fernando Wang, I-sheng Huang, Rios Li, and Yao Chang.
Performance Date: Sept. 8 – 10, 2023
Finally, audiences will get to see “Let’s Opera” to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Weiwuying.
