The Gold Medal Dinner by the National Institute of Social Sciences has announced that it will honor Met Opera General Manager Peter Gelb at the Metropolitan Club on Dec. 5, 2019.

The organization announced that General Manager of the Metropolitan Opera will be honored by soprano Angel Blue and countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo who will be present at the event.

Gelb has been the Met Opera’s General Manager since the 2006-07 season and has extended his contract until 2026-27, securing one of the longest tenures in the company’s history.

Blue opened the Met’s 2019-20 season with “Porgy and Bess” and recently made her Staatsoper Hamburg debut in “La Bohème.” The soprano returns to the Met for more performances of “Porgy and Bess” and embarks on a recital tour at the beginning of 2020.

Meanwhile Costanzo is currently performing the title role in Philip Glass’ “Ahknaten” at the Met and is set to perform “Galatea e Polifemo” with the Philharmoniea Baroque in San Francisco.
