National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing to Present ‘La Traviata’

The National Centre for Performing Arts in Beijing is set to present “La Traviata.”

The showcase, which kicks off on August 8, 2023, and runs through the 13th, will star Ekaterina Bakanova and Zhou Xiaolin as Violetta. They are joined by Shi Yijie and Kou Jing as Alfredo; Liao Changyong and Zhang Yang as Giorgio Germont, and Yajie Zhang as Flora.

The production will be directed by Henning Brockhaus and conducted by Yu Long.

Bakanova has performed at such companies as the Arena of Verona, la Fenice in Venice, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatro Liceo in Barcelona, Royal Opera in Versailles, Israeli Opera in Tel-Aviv, Staatsoper in Dresden,  and Opernhaus in Zürich, among others.

Zhou has previously appeared in such operas as “La Bohème,” “Turandot,” “Simon Boccanegra,” “Rickshaw Boy,” “Aida,” “Carmen,” and “Les Contes d’Hoffmann,” among others.
