The National Arts Centre Orchestra is set to present its 2024 SPHERE Festival in Ottawa.

For over 10 days, musicians, actors, dancers, artists, scientists, and community leaders from all over the country will collaborate on performances, conversations, and installations. The multidisciplinary festival’s theme is the vital role of water and rivers.

Soprano Renée Fleming will perform selections from her 2021 album, “Voice of Nature: The Anthropocene,” with the National Arts Centre Orchestra led by Alexander Shelley. Also on the program is a rendition of “Twilight and Shadow,” from “The Lord of the Rings,” and music by Björk and Burt Bacharach. The concert is complemented by imagery specially curated by the National Geographic Society. She is joined by pianist Mahani Teave.

Fleming’s “Voice of Nature” is scheduled for Sept. 20, at Southam Hall at 8 p.m.
