Composer and multimedia artist Nathan Hall has teamed up with librettist Alan Olejniczak in creating “Unbound.” The opera will receive its world premiere at Studio Friction in Denver Colorado in late August 2021.

Hall’s works, shaped by his experiences as a gay man, create a more intimate connection between performer, place, and audience. “Unbound” is his first opera and is self-produced.

Olejniczak wrote the libretto for “The Death of Ivan Illich,” which received its premiere with Orlando Opera in February 2021.

Hall and Olejniczak’s opera, billed as a site-specific kink opera, holds special meaning for the composer who delves into the world of sexual fantasy and Hall’s exploration of Shibari bondage.

Performances are set for Aug. 27, 29, 31 and Sept. 2 and 4, 2021.
