Natalya Romaniw, Pumeza Matshikiza & Andrew Stenson Lead Garsington Opera’s 2023 Season

The Garsington Opera has announced its 2023 season.

The season opens with Rossini’sIl barbiere di Siviglia with conductor Douglas Boyd condcuting Christopher Luscombe. The cast will include Andrew Stenson, Johannes Kammler, Katie Bray, Richard Burkhard, Callum Thorpe, and Josephine Goddard.

Performance Dates: May 31-July 22, 2023

The company will also present Mozart’s Mitridate, re di Ponto with Robert Murray, Elizabeth Watts, Iestyn Davies, Soraya Mafi, John Graham-Hall, and Joshua Owen Mills. Clemens Schuldt conducts the production by Tim Albery.

Performance Dates: June 1-July 2, 2023

Star soprano Natalya Romaniw takes the title of Richard Strauss’ “Ariadne auf Naxos” with Young Woo Kim, Jennifer France, Polly Leech, and William Dazeley. Mark Wigglesworth conducts the production by Bruno Ravella.

Performance Dates: June 18-July 21, 2023

Smetana’s “The Bartered Bride” will star Pumeza Matshikiza, Oliver Johnston, David Ireland, John Findon, Yvonne Howard, William Dazeley, Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts, Isabelle Peters, John Savournin, and Louise Winter. Jac van Steen conducts the production by Rosie Purdie.

Performance Dates: June 30-July 23, 2023
