Famed soprano Natalie Dessay is set to make her recital debut at the Auditori AXA in Barcelona on March 5, 2024 as part of the Lied Festival Victoria de los Ángeles.

Dessay will perform alongside pianist Philippe Cassard in a showcase that honors the life of iconic soprano Victoria de los Ángeles. The first half of the program will feature works of women composers such as Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, and Alma Mahler.

In the second half of the show, audiences will be treated to works by Claude Debussy, Jules Massenet, Francis Poulenc, Ernest Chausson, and Charles Gounod.

Also worthy of note is the fact that the auditorium will change its name to Auditori-Sala Victoria de los Ángeles, per an initiative by the Districte de Les Corts – Ajuntament de Barcelona.

Dessay was once one of the most renowned sopranos in the world, performing at all the major opera companies in the world. She retired from the opera stage in 2013 and is set to retire from performing classical music altogether in 2025.
