Natalie Dessay, Nina Stemme, Emöke Baráth, Jakub Józef Orlinski & Pene Pati Lead Opéra national du Rhin’s 2024-25 Season

The Opéra national du Rhin has announced its 2024-25 season. Here are the opera performances.

George Benjamin’s “Picture a day like this” opens the season.

Performance Dates: Oct. 3-20, 2024

Jakub Józef Orlinski and Michał Biel will perform Purcell, Haendel, Schubert, Baird, and Łukaszewski.

Performance Date: Sept. 19, 2024

Alex Rosen, Emöke Baráth, Adèle Charvet, Laurence Kilsby, Lauranne Oliva, Christophe Dumaux, and Pierre Romainville star in Handel’s “Ariodante.” Christopher Moulds conducts the production by Jetske Mijnssen.

Performance Dates: Nov. 6-Dec. 1, 2024

Stéphane Degout and Alain Planès perform in recital and will include music by  Fauré, Chausson, Duparc, Brahms, and Schumann.

Performance Date: Nov. 7, 2024

“Les Trois Brigands” will star Ana Escudero, Camille Bauer, Massimo Frigato, Carlos Reynoso, and Michał Karski. Didier Puntos conducts the production by Jean-Philippe Guilois and Gilles Rico.

Performance Dates: Nov. 13-Dec. 7, 2024

Attilio Glaser leads Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” alongside Lenneke Ruiten, Floriane Hasler, and Jean-Sébastien Bou. Pierre Dumoussaud conducts the production by Lotte de Beer. 

Performance Dates: Jan. 20-Feb. 9, 2025

Marlis Petersen and Stephan Matthias Lademann lead a program of music by Loewe, Schumann, Brahms, Wagner, Pfitzner, Strauss, Mahler, Wolf, and Eisler.

Performance Date: Jan. 22, 2025

Pene Pati, Adèle Charvet, Florian Sempey, and Sandra Hamaoui star in Massenet’s “Werther” with Marc Leroy-Calatayud conducting and Loïc Richard directing.

Performance Date: Feb. 2, 2025

Nina Stemme and Roland Pöntinen perform a recital of music by Stenhammar, Koch, Sibelius, and Rangström.

Performance Date: Feb. 8, 2025

Grieg’s “Peer Gynt” will be conducted by Aziz Shokhakimov and will star Carlos Reynoso, Alysia Hanshaw, Camille Bauer, Ana Escudero, Bernadette Johns, Pierre Gennaï, Sørn Mermillod Petry, Yacine Bathily, Louise Coq, Emma Da Cunha, and Victor Coupey.

Performance Dates: Feb. 14-16, 2025

Martina Russomanno and Julia Muzychenko star in Verdi’s “La Traviata” alongside Amitai Pati and Vito Priante. Christoph Koncz conducts the production by Amélie Niermeyer.

Performance Dates: March 24-April 29, 2025

Julian Prégardien and Anna Gebhardt perform in recital. The program includes Schumann, Mahler, and Ravel.

Performance Date: March 27, 2025

Hans Krása’s “Brundibár” will star Michał Karski, Carlos Reynoso, Annalisa Orlando, and Thibaut Trouche. Jeanne Candel directs.

Performance Date: May 10-June 6, 2025

Lehár’s “Giuditta” will star Melody Louledjian, Sandrine Buendia, Thomas Bettinger, Nicolas Rivenq, Sahy Ratia, Christophe Gay, Jacques Verzier, and Rodolphe Briand. Thomas Rösner conducts the production by Pierre-André Weitz.

Performance Dates: May 11-June 3, 2025

“Sweeney Todd” will be performed by Scott Hendricks, Natalie Dessay, Marie Oppert, Jasmine Roy, Jens Larsen, and Paul Curievici. Barrie Kosky directs the production and Bassem Akiki conducts.

Performance Dates: June 17-July 6, 2025

Kate Lindsey will give a recital alongside Baptiste Trotignon in music by Weill, Korngold, Zemlinsky, and Alma Mahler.

Performance Dates: June 26, 2025
