The Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria has announced that it will honor the centenary of the death of composer Camille Saint-Saëns by performing a concert featuring mezzo-soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera. The concerts will take place on March 11 & 12, 2021.

The program for the concert includes various works by Saint-Saëns, such as his Sérénade, op. 15; “Mon coeur s’ouvre à ta voix,” and Bacchanale from opera “Samson et Dalila.” Additionally, works by Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky, Maurice Ravel, and Jānis Mediņš will be presented. Karel Mark Chichon conducts.

Nancy Fabiola Herrera recently performed the role of Azucena in Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” at Ópera de Las Palmas, the role of Leonora di Gusman in Donizetti’s “La Favorita” at the Teatro Cervantes Malaga, and the title role in “Samson et Dalila” at Teatro de la Maestranza, among others.

The mezzo-soprano is slated for a continuation of the run of “Il Trovatore” at Ópera de Las Palmas in March 2021, before taking on the title role in Ortega’s “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” at the Teatro Cervantes Malaga in July 2021.
