Nancy Fabiola Herrera & Airam Hernández Lead Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria’s 2021-22 Season

Spain’s Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria has announced its 2021-22 season with Karel Mark Chichon returning as Music Director.

For the purposes of this article, we will only focus on vocal performances.

The season opens with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 under Karel Mark Chichon. Soloists will include Miren Urbieta-Vega, Anna Alàs i Jové, Airam Hernández, and Paul-Armin Edelmann.

Performance Dates: Sept. 16 & 17, 2021

David González conducts an evening of music by Moncayo, Ponce, and E. Mateo with soloists José María Gallardo del Rey, and Estefanía Perdomo.

Performance Dates: Nov. 18 & 19, 2021

Karel Mark Chichon conducts Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 with soloists Nancy Fabiola Herrera.

Performance Dates: Dec. 2 & 3, 2021

The season comes to a close with Karel Mark Chichon conducting fragments of “Madama Butterfly” and “Der Rosenkavalier.” Soloists will be announced at a later date. The performance will also include Strauss’ “Don Juan.”

Performance Date: July 15, 2022

The season will also include concerts conducted by Leonard Slatkin, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Adrian Leaper, Trevor Pinnock, Dan Ettinger, Henrik Nánási, and Óliver Díaz.
