Nadine Sierra to Perform in ‘Rigoletto’ at Berlin State Opera

By Francisco Salazar

Nadine Sierra will sing Gilda in “Rigoletto” at the Berlin State Opera.

The soprano took to social media to state, “It seems that I am coming to Berlin for ‘Rigoletto’!!!! I will not be performing on the 19th, but coming for the final four performances! I’m excited and glad that the Berlin State Opera has asked.”

Sierra will sing the performances between May 24 to June 4 alongside Francesco Demuro, Grigory Shkarupa, Anna Lapkovskaja, and Christopher Maltman. Giuseppe Mentuccia is set to conduct the production by Bartlett Sher.

The news comes days after the soprano took to social media to state that she had felt “vocal & physical fatigue” following performances at the Hollywood Bowl and following conversations with the Staatsoper Berlin had concluded that “I will not be performing in Berlin.” Here is the original message she published in full.

Nadine Sierra “Rigoletto” will open on May 19 with Irina Lungu sing the role of Gilda.
