The Teatro Real de Madrid has announced it will reopen with a production of Verdi’s “La Traviata.”

According to Platea Magazine, the company will present a semi-staged version of Willy Decker’s production starting July 1. The production will be showcased 27 times through July except on July 6, 20, 30, and 31.

The production will star Nadine Sierra and Ekaterina Bakanova. The orchestra will not perform in the pit in order to maintain social distancing and the audience will be limited to 500 people.

The news comes a day after the company announced its 2020-21 season.

The Teatro Real is the latest theater to reopen following the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Brucknerhaus Linz, Musikverein Wien, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Konzerthaus Wien.
