Nadine Sierra Cancels ‘Manon’ Performance In Bordeaux

Nadine Sierra has has canceled the April 8, 2019 performance of “Manon” at the Opera de Bordeaux.”

The soprano announced via social media that due to a virus she had to cancel her performance. As a result, Amina Edris will sing the title role. The performance will mark Edris’ second performance of the title role in a consecutive day. She made her Bordeaux debut and role debut on April 7, 2019, which was also her birthday.

The Egyptian-born, New Zealand soprano recently won the first and Audience Prize victories at the inaugural Concours Bordeaux Medoc Lyrique and is set to make debuts at Grand Théâtre de Genève and return to the San Francisco Opera.

Edris joins tenor Benjamin Bernheim in “Manon,” while Sierra is set to return to the production April 10.
