Nadine Sierra, Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann & Rachel Willis-Sorensen Highlight Opera De Bordeaux’s 2019-20 Season

The Opéra de Bordeaux has announced its 2019-20 season featuring numerous new productions, great stars and a number of acclaimed recitals.

Eric Cutler and Adam Smith share the title role in Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” with Jessica Pratt singing the four heroines, Nicolas Cavallier as the four villains, and Aude Extrémo as Nicklausse. Marc Minkowski conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 19-Oct. 1, 2019

Marianne Crebassa sings the title role of Handel’s “Ariodante” with Ana Maria Labin, Yuriy Mynenko, James Platt, Caroline Jestaedt, and Valerio Contaldo. Marc Minkowski conducts the concert performances. 

Performance Dates: Nov. 28-30, 2019

Marc Leroy Calatayud conducts “La Legende du Roi Dragon” with Alix Le Saux, Marie Picaut, Adriana Bignagni Lesca, Damien Pass, and Tomislav Lavoie .

Performance Dates: Nov. 17-20, 2019

Rubenstein’s “The Demon” stars Nicolas Cavallier, Evgenia Muravera, Bror Magnus Tødenes, Ray Chenez, Alexandros Stavrakakis, Svetlana Lifar, Luc Bertin-Hugault, and Paul Gaugler. The production by Dmitry Bertman is conducted by Paul Daniel.

Performance Dates: Jan. 29-Feb. 9, 2020

Paul Daniel conducts a new production of Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette” by Justin Way. The opera is set to star Nadine Sierra and Pene Pati in the lead roles with Nicolas Courjal, Philippe-Nicolas Martin, and Adèle Charvet.

The Da Ponte Trilogy

Robert Gleadow, Angela Brower, Megan Marino, Florian Sempey, Rachel Willis-Sorensen, Ana Maria Labin, Lea Desandre, and Miriam Albano star in Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro” with Marc Minkowski conducting.

Performance Dates: May 30-June 12, 2020

Alexandre Duhamel, Robert Gleadow, Rachel Willis-Sorensen, Lauren Fagan, Alexey Neklyudov, Leonard Bernad, Megan Marino, and Angela Brower lead Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with Marc Minkowski conducting.

Performance Dates: May 31-June 13, 2020

Alexandre Duhamel, Ana Maria Labin, Angela Brower, Megan Marino, Alasdair Kent, Robert Gleadow, Miriam Albano, and Lea Desandre star in Mozart’s “Così Fan Tutte” with Marc Minkowski conducting.

Rolando Villazón and Carrie-Ann Matheson perform a program by Falla, Guastavino, and Obrador.

Mariella Devia takes on a program of Bellini, Donizetti, and Verdi with pianist Giulio Zappa.

Ildar Abdrazakov and Mzia Bakhtouridze perform a program Massenet, Rachmaninov, and Shostakovich.

Anna Netrebko and Elena Bashkirova present the diva’s acclaimed program Night and Day featuring music by Tchaïkovsky, Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Charpentier, Offenbach, and Fauré.
