Ewa Płonka Steps into Teatro Real de Madrid’s ‘Nabucco’

The Teatro Real a de Madrid has announced a cast change for its current production of Verdi’s “Nabucco.”

Soprano Ewa Płonka replaced Oksana Dyka as Abigaile in the July 16 performance. She is also set to take over the July 20 performance, also replacing Dyka.

Płonka joins a cast that includes Gabriele Viviani in the title role, Eduard Aladrén as Ismaele, Roberto Tagliavini as Zaccaria, and Aya Wakizono as Fenena.

Płonka recently took on the role of Lady Macbeth at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein followed by a run of “Nabucco” in Verona. She will return to Verona on July 23, 2022 for an additional performance of “Nabucco.”

Dyka is set to return to the stage to perform the title role in “Turandot” at the Arena di Verona.” She will also perform “Nabucco” at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and “Tosca” at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo.
