Myung-Whun Chung is set to make his debut at the Terme di Caracalla on July 9, 2023.

Chung will lead the Orchestra e del Coro dell’Opera di Roma in Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with a cast that includes soprano Olga Bezsmertna, mezzo-soprano Sara Mingardo, tenor Giovanni Sala, and bass Roberto Tagliavini. Ciro Visco leads Roma Opera’s chorus.

Chung has led such orchestras as Berliner Philharmoniker and New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He is the winner of the 2015 Premio Abbiati della critica musicale italiana and received the key of the city of Venice in 2013. In 2021 he led the Orchestra dell’Opera di Roma at the Circo Massimo in Verdi’s Messa di Requiem.

The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s summer festival is set to present “La Traviata” at the end of July.
