Musica Viva NY To Present ‘Homage To Peace’

By Nicole Kuchta

Musica Viva NY will conclude its 2018-19 season with “Homage to Peace,” led by Artistic Director Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez.

The Musica Viva NY Choir will be featured in a program of Maurice Duruflé’s “Ubi Caritas” and “Requiem,” Op. 9, Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings, Op. 36 (featuring acclaimed organist Renée Anne Louprette), and Arvo Pärt’s “Da Pacem Domine” for Mixed Choir and String Orchestra.

The ensemble is hopeful that with this program of reflective masterworks, which “provide a way to unite humanity through shared experiences,” they will evoke a stronger sense of peace in the audience.

A pre-concert talk, led by Louprette and Valdez, will take place an hour before the show.

The performance will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 5 pm at The Brick Church.
