By Francisco Salazar

Musica Viva NY has announced its 2024-25 season.

The season opens with “SOUNDSCAPES: Shabnam Abedi & Musica Viva NY Soloists.” The program, featuring the harmonium, tabla and piano, contains a crossover of three worlds of sound. In addition to the choral ensemble of eight voices presenting jazz and Hindustani classical music, there is Hindustani raga music presented by Abedi, as soloist, and the choral ensemble.

Performance Date: Sept. 29, 2024

The ensemble will release “CRIMSON ROSES: Contemporary American Choral Music.” Musica Viva NY’s choir and orchestra led by conductor Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez will be joined by soloists Erinn Sensening and Frederica von Stade.

Release Date: Nov. 2024

“THIS LOVE BETWEEN US: Bach and Esmail” will juxtapose the familiar and the unfamiliar, the past and the present, and a young and talented Indian-American composer and a venerated German master.

Performance Date: Dec. 8, 2024

“CURSE UPON IRON: Poulenc, Tormis, Boulanger, and Allegri” will showcase the range of the Musica Viva NY choir and the acoustic capabilities of All Souls NYC in a beautifully diverse program of familiar and less familiar works.

Performance Date: March 2, 2025

The season ends with “A HUMAN REQUIEM: Brahms and Schubert.” The concert will feature Brahms’ “Ein deutsches Requiem,” led by Alejandro Hernandez-Valdez. It will also feature Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony.

Performance Date: May 18, 2025
