Musica Viva NY Announces 2019-20 Season

Musica Viva NY has announced its 2019-20 season.

The performance series kicks off at the St. Vincent Ferrer Chruch in NYC with a concert exploring works in honor of Mary and St. Cecilia. To that effect, there will be music by Britten, Biebl, Pärt, Sandström, Parson, Wadsworth, Macmillan, and Hildegard von Bingen.

Performance Date: Nov. 3, 2019

Second is a benefit Cabaret concert of the Great American Songbook featuring soloists from Musica Viva NY. This showcase is set to take place at the All Soul Church.

Performance Date: Dec. 7, 2019

The ensemble then performs a concert in collaboration with the Dvorak American Heritage Society at the Bohemian National Hall. Alongside the Aeolus Quartet, the concert will feature music by Dvorak, including his piano quartet and love songs by the composer.

Performance Date: Feb. 2, 2020

The All Souls Church will then host a performance of Rheinberger’s mass for double choir. This concert will also include music from Mendelssohn’s last string quartet in F minor. There will also be an arrangement of Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder for string quartet, piano, and voice.

Performance Date: March 8, 2019

The final concert of the year will feature the “All-Night Vigii” by Rachmaninoff, alongside Bach’s Cello Suite No. 4. This performance is set for the All Souls Church.

Performance Date: May 17, 2020
