Musica Sacra Unveils 2022-23 Season Programming

Musica Sacra has announced its 2022-23 season.

The season kicks off with “Music for the Gothic Space” at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Kent Trittle will lead a program of music by  Janet Wheeler, Amy Summers, Olivia Sparkhall, and Sarah McDonald, as well as mass movements from 14th century England and France.

Performance Date: Oct. 25, 2022

Next up is Händel’s “Messiah” with Nola Richardson, Heather Petrie, Joshua Blue, and Enrico Lagasca. Kent Trittle conducts. That performance will take place at Carnegie Hall.

Performance Date: Dec. 21, 2022

Next up is a showcase with the New York Philharmonic at David Geffen Hall. Jaap van Zweden leads Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion” with such soloists as Nicholas Phan, Davóne Tines, Amanda Forsythe, Tamara Mumford, Paul Appleby, and Philippe Sly.

Performance Date: March 23-25, 2023

The season ends with “Multitude of Voices” with Kent Trittle. It will feature music by Isabella Leonarda, Kerensa Briggs, Sister Sulpitia Cesis, Maria Xaveria Peruchona, Ethyl Smyth, Amy Beach, Melanie Demore, Rani Arbo, Undine Smith Moore, and Bach.

Performance Date: April 18, 2023
