Musica Sacra Announces 2021-22 Season

New York’s Musica Sacra has unveiled its 2021-22 season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on vocal performances.

First up will be a concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine featuring Musica Sacra Chorus and Orchestra under Kent Tritle and Michael Sheetz. The ensemble will perform music by J.S. Bach, Johann Michael Bach, and Johann Christoph Bach. Vocal soloists include Nola Richardson, Helen Karloski, James Reeses, and Peter Stewart.

Performance Date: Oct. 26, 2021

Next up is a concert at The Actor’s Chapel, NYC featuring the American Modern Ensemble: Tintinnabuli and Musica Sacra. Kent Tritle conducts a concert featuring music by Robert Paterson and Palestrina.

Performance Date: Nov. 5, 2021

Kent Tritle will lead a performance of Mozart’s Requiem and Haydn’s “Te Deum in C” with such vocal soloists as Lauren Snouffer, Susan Graham, Andrew Haji, and Michael Sumuel.

Performance Date: Nov. 19, 2021

Kent Tritle will lead a performance of Part one of Händel’s “Messiah” with Brittany Renee, Heather Petrie, John Riesen, and Enrico Lagasca as the vocal soloists.

Performance Date: Dec. 21, 2021

Kicking off 2022 will be a performance featuring music by Kalabis, Pärt, Wang Jie, and Brahms. Vocal soloists will be Nicole Joy Mitchell and John Riesen.

Performance Date: March 22, 2022
