Music Theatre Wales in London will present “The Jollof House Party Opera” at Kings Place, London, on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025.

The performance, which is of Classically Blac presented by Black Lives in Music, will feature a 20-minute pop-up showcase that blends hip-hop and opera in a lively kitchen drama. The work centers on Chef Adeola, navigating the pressures of a new baby, a growing business, and an impending food safety inspection.

“We are thrilled to be taking part in Classically Black at Kings Place with Jollof House Party Opera,” said Michael McCarthy, Artistic Director of Music Theatre Wales, per an official press release. “Opera is changing—and we’re changing with it. We aim to create new operatic work that is relatable to the world around us, by finding the stories and the musical language that help tell these stories in a meaningful way for today’s audience, and by developing new ways of presenting opera.”

The opera was presented in Cardiff at Sept. 28, 2025, Swansea on Oct. 10, 2025, and Wrexham on Oct. 11, 2025.
