Music & Opera Singers Trust Launch ASC@Home Competition

By David Salazar

The Music & Opera Singers Trust (MOST) is set to launch the International Online Singing Competition for Contemporary (Pop/Rock), Jazz, Musical Theatre and Classical and Opera, also known as ASC@Home.

The competition enables artists around the world to submit one video of a performance in isolation for a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize. Videos can be taken in a bedroom or lounge with a professional set up or even a phone camera. The competition is free to enter and free to vote, with audience members encouraged to vote on their preferred showcase and artist.

In the second round of the competition, artists will be judged by such stars as Nicole Car or jazz performer Katie Noonan.

“I think it’s fantastic that the competition, which has an established reputation in the Opera and Classical scene, has decided to extend the competition,” she said. “This competition is so exciting because it provides artists with a chance to work… the competition will give performers purpose and help them to flex their creative muscles at this difficult time,” said Alessandra Merlo, one entrant in the Musical Theatre category, in a press release.
