
Music Before 1800 Announces 2025-26 Season
By David SalazarMusic Before 1800 has announced its 51st season. Here is a rundown of the classical vocal performances on offer for 2025-26.
First up is “A Requiem for All Souls” at Corpus Christi Church. The program is headlined by Capella Pratensis. There will be a radio broadcast on WKCR and online on Nov. 7, 2026.
Performance Date: Nov. 2, 2025
Then comes “Christmas in a Leipzig Coffeehouse,” also at Corpus Christi Church. The performance features Juilliard415, directed by Shunske Sato. The program includes arias and chorales from Bach’s “Christmas Cantata.” There will be a radio broadcast on Dec. 12, 2026.
Performance Date: Dec. 7, 2025
Vocalist Fiona Gillepsie joins Ruckus and Keir GoGwilt in “Edinburgh Rollick.” The performance will take place at Corpus Christi Church, with a radio broadcast set for Jan. 30, 2026.
Performance Date: Jam. 25, 2026
The Gesualdo Six and Concert Theatre Works presents “Death of Gesualdo.” Will Tuckett choreographs and music director Owain Park leads the performance at Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. There will be a concert stream from March 2 – 16, 2026.
Performance Date: Feb. 13, 2026
Countertenor Hugh Cutting joins the Irish Baroque Orchestra for “The Trials of Tenducci,” a programming featuring works by Mozart, Gluck, Fischer, Arne, Giordani, and J.C. Bach. Peter Whelan directs the show. This showcase will take place at Corpus Christi Church.
Performance Date: March 15, 2026
Apollo’s Fire presents “O Jerusalem!” The program includes works by Monteverdi as well as a Sephardic ballad, and Arabic love songs, among others. This performance will take place at the NY Society for Ethical Culture. A stream will be available from April 27 – May 11, 2026.
