Music Before 1800 Announces 2023-24 Season

Music Before 1800 has announced its upcoming season. Here is a look at the vocal performances.

Mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïck headlines “Music for a Young King.” The showcase, which features Le Poème Harmonique under Vincent Dumestre will spotlight music by Lully, Charpentier, Moulinié, and Cavalli, among others.

Performance Date: Oct. 29, 2023

Tenor James Reese and soprano Jolle Greenleaf join TENET Vocal Artists for “The Lady Fortune,’ which includes music by Machaut and De Vitry.

Performance Date: Nov. 19 – Dec. 17, 2023 

Mezzo-soprano and flautist Emil Ferguson will headline “Winter Wassail” alongside Barokksolistene.

Performance Date: Dec. 15, 2023 – Jan. 8, 2024 

Then comes the New York City premiere of “The Chevalier” on Jan. 21, 2023.

The showcase, which will take place at the United Palace, will present the life and music of Joseph Bologne as written and directed by Bill Barclay. It will star RJ Foster, Merritt Janson, David Joseph, and Bill Barclay. The event will be hosted by Terrance McKnight.

Performance Date: Jan. 21, 2024 

The Marian Consort will present “Lusitano” which will spotlight forgotten Portuguese Motets. Rory McCleery leads the ensemble.

Performance Date: Feb. 11, 2024

Vocalists Doron Schleifer and Ivo Haun de Oliveira join La Morra in “O Blind World.”

Performance Date: May 5, 2024
