Music Academy of the West Introduces Online Learning Institute

By David Salazar

The Music Academy of the West will be introducing the Music Academy Remote Learning Institute this summer, providing an opportunity for its 129 scholarship fellows an opportunity to engage with the program despite the complex circumstances.

For four weeks between June 15-July 10, fellows will receive mentorship from faculty, guest artists, and industry leaders. Among the activities they will engage with are career-building seminars, interview spotlights, fellow meetings with compeers, orchestra excerpts coaching sessions, diction coaching and acting workshops, and wellness activities.

Moreover, audiences around the world will get a chance to experience concerts by fellows, faculty, and alumni via live streams and video recordings.

“It’s critical that we provide talented musicians a supportive place to develop their artistry. In this unprecedented time, the world is looking to artists to flourish in new ways,” Music Academy President and CEO Scott Reed said in a press release. “With our outstanding faculty and unique curriculum, the Music Academy is equipped to offer these young people the tools for creative success beyond our physical campus through a virtual space.”
