
Murat Karahan Receives Cigno Garda Prize at Garda Festival

The award was given to the Turkish tenor by the Ambassador of Turkey in Rome and the Artistic director of the Festival on August 1 at the Castello Scaligero of Villafranca di Verona.
In a statement by the Ambassador of Turkey, Çomoğlu Ülgen said, “I am happy to be here at the Garda Festival to celebrate the art of Murat Karahan, the friendship between Italy and Turkey, and to present the Cigno del Garda Prize.”
Karahan added, “I am happy to have performed at the Garda Festival and I am moved by this award, which celebrates my special bond with Italy and the Veronese territory.’
This year, the Garda Festival celebrated Pavarotti’s 90th birthday.
Karahan is a well-known tenor who has performed internationally on prestigious stages such as the Berlin Staatsoper, Berlin Deutsche Oper, Munich Bayerische Staatsoper, Oper Frankfurt, Wiener Staatsoper, Napoli Teatro di San Carlo, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, and Teatro Regio Torino.
