Mozart Masterpiece To Dominate The New Generation Festival’s 2019 Lineup

By Logan Martell

For the third year in a row, the gardens of the Palazzo Corsini in Florence, Italy, will be home to a late summer celebration like no other – The New Generation Festival. Its co-founders Maximilian Fane, Roger Granville, and Frankie Parham, describes the festival’s purpose as “to kindle the infinite potential of the human spirit, championing emerging talent across artistic disciplines with an ambitious desire to bring about no less than a renaissance of the Renaissance.”

To better achieve this goal, 2019 will also mark the founding of The New Generation Festival America. The program is a part of 23Arts Initiative, a US-incorporated 501c3 non-profit organization that sponsors art programs. The New Generation Festival America will aim to “work with performing artists from a diverse range of backgrounds, supporting the next generation of world-class performers, and encouraging new creative collaborations between talents on both sides of the Atlantic.”

First up on the slate is Mozart’s “La Nozze di Figaro,” featuring Daniel Miroslaw, Anna El-Khashem, Faik Mansuroglu, and Nela Saric. Mozart’s timeless comedy will be conducted by Jonathan Santagada, who has worked with Sir Antonio Pappano for several years at the Royal Opera House, and directed by Victoria Stevens, who currently serves as Staff Opera Director at the National Theater Mannheim.

Performance dates: Wednesday, August 28, 2019; Saturday, August 31, 2019

Besides the opera offering, the festival will showcase the Filippo Corsini Orchestral Concert, featuring soloist Giuseppe Guarrera, performing works by Schumann and Beethoven as well as “From Blues to Bebop: The Spirit of Harlem,” with Dominick Farinacci, Shenel Johns, and Mathis Picard.

The festival will also include non-classical performances, with a program curated by DJ Harold Van Lennep that will take place in a number of locations throughout the scenic gardens.
