
Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc to Present Rossini’s ‘Stabat Mater’
By David SalazarThe Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc will present Rossini’s “Stabat Mater” in an Easter concert on April 2 at 7 p.m. local time at Reduta in Olomouc.
Vocal soloists include soprano Lada Bočková, alto Monika Jägerová, tenor Daniel Matoušek, and bass Ivan Lyvch. The Moravian Theatre Olomouc Choir, prepared by choirmaster Michael Dvořák, and the Academic Corps Žerotín, prepared by choirmaster Pavel Koňárek, join the orchestra for the occasion. Jakub Klecker conducts.
Rossini’s “Stabat Mater,” the composer’s only sacred work for soloists, choir, and orchestra, is drawn from the medieval Latin hymn depicting the Virgin Mary’s grief beneath the cross of Christ.
