Mónica Danilov Headlines A New ‘Maria De Buenos Aires’ In Bogotá

Ópera al Parque de Bogotá is set to present a new production of Piazolla’s “Maria de Buenos Aires.”

The new production by Hyalmar Mitrotti is set to star mezzo-soprano Mónica Danilov in the title role, Carlos Gutiérrez as the Duende, and Leonardo Estévez as the Payador. Riccardo Jaramillo conducts the Nueva Filarmonica Orquesta with guests Giovanni Parra and Beatriz Batista.

The production also stars Mariana Rojas, Mariana Parejo, Juliana Morales, Laura Velandia, Andrés Gaitán, and Carlos Quintero and will feature costumes by Juliana Reyes with lighting design by Humberto Hernández.

The new production is the winner of the 2019 Beca Ópera al Parque and is being produced by Asociación Izmir.

The work is slated to be performed on Oct. 16 and 17, 2019 at the Teatro Colsubsidio Roberto Arias Pérez.
