Mojca Erdmann Takes Over ‘Die Zauberflöte’ At Staatsoper Berlin

The Staatsoper unter der Linden has announced that soprano Mojca Erdmann will take over the role of Pamina in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” on Dec. 27, 2020, and Jan. 6, 8, 10 & 14, 2021.

Erdmann will replace soprano Evelin Novak.

Erdmann wil join a cast that includes René Pape in the role of Sarastro, Siyabonga Maqungo as Tamino, Gyula Orendt in the role of Papageno, Liubov Medvedeva as Papagena, and Antonina Vesenina as Königin der Nacht. The cast will also include Roman Trekel, Florian Hoffmann, Anna Samuil, Katharina Kammerloher, Anna Kissjudit, Andrés Moreno García, Frederic Jost, and Spencer Britten.

Alexander Soddy conducts the production by August Everding.

Mojca Erdmann recently performed the title role in Berg’s “Lulu” at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and the role of Nannetta in Verdi’s “Falstaff” at the Dallas Opera, among others. The soprano is currently performing the role of Marquise de Merteuil in Francesconi’s “Quartett” at the Staatsoper Berlin.
