Mojca Erdmann Replaces Barbara Hannigan in Staatsoper Hamburg’s ‘Lulu’

Soprano Barbara Hannigan has withdrawn from all the performances of Berg’s opera “Lulu” at the Staatsoper Hamburg due to the private reasons, according to the company’s official website.

Soprano Mojca Erdmann will perform in her stead in the title role. Erdmann will join a cast that includes Anne Sofie von Otter, Jochen Schmeckenbecher, Charles Workman, Ivan Ludlow, Sergei Leiferkus, Peter Lodahl, Marta Świderska, Dietmar Kerschbaum, Martin Pawlowsky and Denis Velev. Kent Nagano will conduct Christoph Marthaler’s production.

Mojca Erdmann has recently performed the role of Nannetta in “Falstaff” at the Dallas Opera, The Soul in Widmann’s “Babylon” at the Staatsoper Berlin, Claudia in Hosokawa’s “Stilles Meer” at the Staatsoper Hamburg, and Susanna in “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.

“Lulu” is set to open on February 2 and will run until February 9, for a total of four performances.
