On April 3, 2020, Houston-based composer Misha Penton will release her new music video, “Visible Darkness.”

The work, the first of a coming series, is described as “a fairytale of our ephemeral, delicate bodies in a city of glass and steel, and a celebration of the magnificent transformative feminine.” The rest of the series will be released in the fall, along with an EP.

“Although ‘Visible Darkness’ evolved as part of a personal healing journey for me, the themes extend into a deeper engagement with the idea of our delicate bodies in an unrelenting world— we are beautifully ephemeral and yet astonishingly strong and resilient,” Penton told OperaWire. “The series of works in the forthcoming collection are inventions of new fairytales— each exploring physical and magical transformation.”

Penton is an artist whose approach blends styles and genres, having recently made her directorial debut with Houston Grand Opera for their new web series “Star Cross’d.”

“Visible Darkness” is written, performed, directed, and edited by Penton. Watch it here.
