Milnes VOICE Program Announces 2022 Vocal Intensives

By Logan Martell

The Milnes VOICE Programs has announced this year’s vocal intensives, continuing the company’s tradition of providing students with first-rate education, led by legendary baritone Sherrill Milnes.

The series will begin with the VOICE Virtual online intensive. Running from April 25-30, this program will be offered to singers college-aged and above. They will receive a mix of vocal coaching, career consultation, and professional development workshops.

Next will be the Florida VOICE Project, held in Tarpon Springs, Florida. With performances at St. Nicholas Cathedral, this intensive will work with qualifying artists at any level of their journey, working on the skills that matter most to them and helping them move on the next phase of their careers.  It will run one week, from May 31 to June 7, 2022.

For singers aged 15-19, the Camp VOICE program at the Iowa State University campus will offer young artists mentorship as they prepare for serious classical study. Running from July 17-24, skills include diction, interpretation, college and career preparation, and stage deportment.

The series will conclude with the Milnes VOICE Studio. Running from July 17-30, this program will be tailored to individual artist’s skills and goals, teaching stage skills and coaching new repertoire. Artists will learn a role in productions of Menotti’s “The Medium” and Lerner & Loewe’s “Brigadoon.”

“It’s so special to our faculty to be able to watch singers grow and improve their vocal skills as they progress through these workshops,” said Co-Founder and President, Maria Zouves. “In order to continue offering high-quality vocal training the Milnes VOICE Programs have embraced technology to take our programs online during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are retaining this aspect to extend our programs across a wider geographical region but we are excited to be able to also return to in-person intensives this year.”
