Mildred Miller International Voice Competition to Press Special Mezzo-Soprano Edition

The Mildred Miller International Voice Competition by the Pittsburgh Festival Opera has announced a brand new mezzo-soprano edition which will take starting on Nov. 6, 2020.

Thirteen finalists will be featured on an online concert on Nov. 6, with audiences able to vote on their favorite. The festival’s winners will be announced on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. ET with a special premiere celebrating the competition’s 10th anniversary on Nov. 7.

This year’s new edition will be showcased online and will be open only to mezzo-sopranos ages 18 and up. The aim is to highlight the voice type’s importance to the organization from its founding all the way up to its current leadership, which is led by Artistic Director Marianne Cornetti.

The panel of judges will feature four mezzos including Cornetti, Jane Bunnell, Nancy Maultsby, and Susanne Mentzer.

The 2020 finalists are Veena Akama-Makia, Lindsay Kate Brown, Maire Therese Carmack, Alice Chung, Avanti Dey, Taylor-Alexis Dupont, Khady Gueye, Emily Harmon, Kimberly Milton, Talin Nalbandian, Hannah She, Hilary Grace Taylor, and Kate Tombaugh.
